Things to do at Aspenäs Herrgård

The manor is located in an idyllic setting right on the lakeside in Aspen. The manor has a large lawn and several social rooms that invite you and your party to wonderful activities during all months of the year.

A modern facility with a fantastic historical heritage. The manor's walls and the wall on the farm date back to the early 1400th century. A gift from Johan III, who gave the land to Brynte Birgersson in 1569. On the top floor of the Manor there is a room named Tellanders, after the Tellander couple who were the last couple to live and own the manor.

Bar and serving

You will find Herrgården's bar in the main building, to the left of the reception. Feel free to order a lovely drink and settle down in the bar area, our large outdoor dining area at the front of the mansion or upstairs, where you'll also find our balcony with a fantastic view of Lake Aspen!

The social rooms

An oasis for creativity! In all four farmhouses there are common rooms that can be used by all our guests. Play billiards, borrow one of our board games or read a cozy book in the historic library.

Exercise room and sauna

Aspenäs manor has a small exercise room where you can get some exercise in during your stay. After that, we recommend visiting our sauna, where you and your party can end the evening in the best way!

Outside

In an environment like this, you can't avoid being outdoors, which is why we always have garden games to lend, canoes and sups can be rented from us if you want to spend the day at sea. Maps of all the fantastic walking loops and hiking trails around the manor can be found at reception.

Manor cafe

Saturdays between 12.00 - 16.00 we have the cafe open for those who fancy something good or a simpler lunch. You will find the café in the manor building. Coffee can be enjoyed in many different places, indoors in the restaurant, outdoors on our beautiful outdoor terrace, upstairs in the library or on the balcony!

Things to do around Aspenäs Herrgård

We have compiled a list of cities and places we strongly recommend all our guests to visit during your stay with us.

Lerum, a city with historical origins

Lerum center and station are less than three kilometers from Aspenäs Herrgård. If you are interested in history, Lerum municipality is the right place for a cultural walk. Dergårdarnas Hembygdspark stores and cares for objects and photos from past times. On the farm is John's cabin, which is said to be Lerum's oldest house. Furthermore, Lerum has a wide range of physical activities. In addition to running and hiking trails, there is the Grepp climbing gym, an adventure pool, paddle center, tennis center and a BMX park.

Alingsås, a cozy town to visit

Alingsås is three kilometers from Aspenäs Herrgård. It is easy to travel there by public transport. Take the bus or a short and beautiful walk to Aspedalen station and jump on the train to Alingsås, which takes about 40 minutes. Bus and train tickets are easy to buy västtrafik app ToGo alternatively pay on the bus and train. In Alingsås you can stroll around for several hours, we recommend taking a short walk to the scenic Nolhaga castle and grounds. Continue out towards lake Mjörn and go out at Nolhagaviken's viewpoint. Gärdsken is a lake with several swimming spots that are long and perfect excursion destinations during the hot summer days.

Floda, a lovely day hike

The Gotaleden stage five runs from Lerum to Floda, the most beautiful part many say. It is a distance of seven kilometers, if you want to take a shorter route, we can instead recommend starting in Stenkullen and hiking the last bit to Floda. Stenkullen has a beautiful nature reserve along the Säveån, here you can take the opportunity to visit Hillefors Grynkvarn, which is Sweden's only inactive water-powered gristmill. It will be a perfect place to pick up the picnic! Once you arrive in Floda, you can discover Nääs castle, wander further in Nääs oak groves or visit Oscarshöjd flowers and gardens.

Jonsered, old industrial area with new charm

Walk stage four on the Gotaleden from Aspenäs Herrgård to Jonsered, alternatively take the train from Aspedalen. A stone's throw from Jonsered station are Jonsered gardens, here you can discover their English rose garden, shape garden, exhibition garden and the ruin. In the 1830s, Jonsered factories were founded and were then used for the textile industry. Today the premises are used as much as in the past, here you can visit their coffee roastery and enjoy a good cup of coffee or why not stop by the beer brewery in the industrial buildings.

Get to town easily

It only takes 20 minutes from Aspenäs Herrgård to central Gothenburg by car! To get to Gothenburg with public transport, you simply download västtrafik's travel app To-go, you take the train from Aspedalen station, which is a beautiful walking loop of 2,5 km from Herrgården, if you would rather take a taxi to the train or all the way into town, the reception will of course book it for you!
